There are no laws in Ohio that require all homeowners to obtain insurance. Additionally, any mortgage lender can also require you to obtain insurance.

Home Insurance Coverage

When it comes to home insurance, you can select from the following to keep your home secured:

Dwelling coverage- This aims to keep the structure of your home, including the walls and roof, protected in the event something happens.
Personal property coverage- This coverage will protect your personal items inside your home, including furniture and clothing if they become stolen or damaged outside of the house.
Other structures- This protects other structures on your property not attached to your home, including a detached garage, fencing, or shed.
Guest medical protection- This will cover the medical costs for a person who becomes injured while on your property up to the policy limit.
Liability coverage- If a person becomes injured while on your property or damage is done to another person's property by you, this will cover you if the other party files a lawsuit against you.
Additional living expenses coverage- This will cover expenses such as hotel costs, etc. if you cannot live in your home temporarily due to a covered loss up to the policy limit.
